Homemade Healthy Vegan Nutella
Ive already shared this recipe on Instagram but it definitely needs a blog post as well. Considering my whole blog is named after Nutella it’s taken me way too long to share a recipe for my version of Nutella. The reason for that is that I have tried tens of different recipes until I settled on this one and also because it is impossible to make hazelnut butter in my food processor. I’ve tried a couple of times and my food processor would just over heat and stop working. I’m too scared to try in my blender and I really like my food processor even if it can’t handle hazelnut butter so I don’t want to get a new one!
For a long time I was really upset that I simply could not find hazelnut butter anywhere to buy. I went as far as asking someone at a store to make some for me and also getting my Aunty to ship me some from overseas! I’m pleased to say that I can now finally find store bought hazelnut butter and I make Nutella all the time! I actually love spooning it over porridge or of course eating it on toast and in crepes or pancakes.
If you have a good food processor you can make your own hazelnut butter by roasting your hazelnuts for 10-15 minutes , scrubbing off the skins as much as possible and then processing them in a food processor until you get nut butter. If you can find blanched hazelnuts than I’d use them to save some hassle. But if your lazy like me you can just buy hazelnut butter if you can find it and make Nutella in a fraction of the time! (It’s worth paying $18 for hazelnut butter) . So here’s my recipe! It’s not the same as the original, a lot more dense and filling and a lot less sweet but absolutely delicious and guilt free
